Benson Boiler Services was founded in 1991 by Stephen Lyons, after many years of dedicated service with Stanley Cookers. Trained by his father, Michael Lyons, one of the UK’s first 100 Gas Registered Engineers and an early innovator in thermal solar technology, Stephen carried forward a deep respect for skill, safety, and genuine customer care.

When Stephen left Stanley, he built his own business around his expertise with AGA, Stanley, and Redfire cookers, focusing on quality workmanship and a commitment to helping people. Working tirelessly as a one-man band, he became known for his reliability, compassion, and determination to bring warmth to every home — especially when customers needed it most.

Over the decades, Benson Boiler Services has continued to grow while staying true to its roots. Our values of honesty, hard work, and customer-first service remain at the heart of everything we do. We believe that fixing something is better than replacing it, and our long-term customers prove it — some of the cookers and heating systems Stephen installed and maintained are still running strong after 30–40 years.

Today, the business is proudly being passed to Stephen’s son, Michael Lyons, who, like his father and grandfather, combines hands-on expertise with innovation and care for every customer. With Stephen preparing for a well-earned retirement, Michael continues to build on his family’s reputation — bringing modern techniques, a strong work ethic, and decades of shared experience to every job.
